We seek an experienced and exceptional individual for the role of Research Scientist to support BioPharma Innovations and Solutions (BPIS), with a particular focus on assay development for in house and collaborative projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Support BPIS in the setup of in vitro assays, including primary, secondary, and mechanistic assays for targets of interest.
· Establish platforms to evaluate mechanisms of action and develop relevant cell lines.
· Serve as a technical specialist, maintaining laboratory facilities, validating and standardising assays under GLP/Non-GLP conditions, and assisting the Group Leader/Principal Investigator (PI) in assessing target engagement and screening.
· Proactively drive novel initiatives and innovative projects/ideas in assay development and screening technologies.
· Contribute research and insights to new project proposals and grant applications.
· Assist BPIS and PI with general operations and laboratory administrative tasks.
Job Requirements
· PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field. The successful candidate will design and conduct experiments, analyse data, write papers and grants, mentor students, and compete for fellowships.
· Strong background and working knowledge of basic molecular and cellular biology techniques such as cell culture, cloning, cell line generation, real-time PCR, western blotting, analysis of human clinical samples, immunoprecipitation, and CRISPR genome editing.
· Candidates with experience in applying new approaches to assess target engagement and cellular mechanisms are highly desirable.
· Direct experience in the development and application of in vitro assays (Enzyme or cell-based) for pharmacological/safety evaluation is required.
· Exposure to the drug discovery process is highly desirable.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to persuade and present to different stakeholders, are essential.
· Proven track record of working effectively within a team.
