The individual will be a key portfolio manager responsible for managing MAPS’ multi-asset funds, namely the Investment-linked Funds of our insurance clients and our institutional mandates.
The person is expected to have 5-7 years’ experience in investment research and portfolio management. This role requires proven expertise on investment view creation, portfolio construction, risk management and analytics, including management and idea generation for total return, VAR-controlled mandates. Specifically, he/she will be part of the subject matter expert sub-team specialising in derivatives and medium-term macro investing framework.
The role requires strong quantitative and technical knowledge in conducting, as well as providing guidance to the junior analysts for, back-testing of investment strategies and portfolio stress analysis. This requires deep qualitative understanding of market fundamentals and drivers.
The person is also expected to have strong inter-personal and presentation skills, and he/she is required to have regular engagements with clients and investors, making presentations on our team’s market views and strategies and fund performance updates. The person is expected to work closely with the MAPS Solutions and CPM teams to drive external AUM growth, including proposals for new product ideas and participation in client pitches.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Fund Management:
- Manage total return funds in accordance with the funds objectives.
- Responsible for portfolio construction and risk management across different alpha streams to enable success across different clients.
- Own the responsibility on fund performance, and client reporting, and investment communication with clients.
- Collectively own team’s investment ideas and translation into total return portfolios
Research:
- Contribute to team’s global asset allocation views and investment ideas, including medium-term macro trade ideas.
- Derivatives-focused ideas for risk management and alpha generation.
- Responsible for specific tactical asset allocation scorecards, including cross asset strategies.
- Drive improvements to the investment process by developing new ideas, strategies and processes, particularly across total return funds.
- Develop frameworks, models, analysis, and processes to identify multi-asset opportunities.
- Mid-level member of the team who will mentor and guide more junior team members.
Client Support:
- Collaborate across the team in developing new multi-asset solutions and innovating to improve the outcome for existing products.
- Drive client pitches and presentations with existing and prospective clients, as needed.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and support functions across all aspects of fund management, including dealing/execution, fund administration, performance measurement, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong passion for analytics and financial markets.
- Self-starter that is highly motivated to support and learn with the team, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- 5-7 years’ experience in financial markets/asset management.
- Experience in derivatives and/or multi-asset funds would be advantageous
- Strong analytical skills, identifies problems and causes, collecting relevant information and delivering possible solutions.
- Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.
- Excellent quantitative analysis and programming skills.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv DataStream, Microsoft Power BI and R platforms would be an advantage.
- Experience, aptitude and dexterity with statistics and computer databases and spreadsheet programs.
- Resourceful and adaptable, ability to respond to rapidly changing environment.
- Effective team player who enjoys working as a team, yet able to work independently and assume individual responsibilities.
