Key Objectives:
- Oversee development of Residential Care Team to implement residential care services effectively for children and youth to thrive in a safe and nurturing residential care environment.
- Supervise and support residential care team to nurture and promote all aspects of child well-being, including their development of life skills and positive values i.e. Circle Time, Home In Home bonding.
- Lead assigned staff in developing and delivering trauma informed care in day-to-day operations, using TI-PBIS strategies and tools
Residential Care Operations
- Supervise assigned residential care staff in providing trauma informed care for children and youth aged 2 to 18 who have been abused and/or severely neglected.
- Lead in the review, planning and implementation of daily programmes and activities to nurture the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and moral growth of our residents.
- Coach residential care staff in developing and implementing/following through on individualised care plans to achieve well-being targets of residents.
Resident Management
- Ensure close communication among stakeholders including residents, families, schools, volunteers and other professionals to promote the safety and well-being of residents.
- Provide training and guide residential care staff team in providing specialised care for residents who may have special needs, self-harming behaviours, suicide ideation, inappropriate sexualised behaviours and/or any other challenging behaviours.
Programme Development
- Lead planning, coordination and reviewing of structured programmes for life skills learning
- Guide Anchors and assigned staff in planning and execution of meaningful activities for skills and values learning on a regular basis.
Staff Development
- Review staff orientation, onboarding and training support for new joiners in residential care team
- Oversee the residential care team in areas of staff well-being, job performance and professional development growth.
- Review and implement a structured competency framework to monitor and evaluate individual competencies of residential care staff and to guide resource management for staff’s professional developmental planning in line with organizational needs
- Review and implement a tiered training roadmap for residential care staff team to support their job roles/ functions
- Conduct regular training/discussions to facilitate learning and development via group platforms such as group supervision, home-in-home/level staff meetings.
Administrative Duties
- SOPs: Oversee implementation, review and improvements of resident management related SOPs according to prevailing Standards of Care, as specified by HOH
- Staff Claims: Check and approve leave applications and expense claims in a timely manner.
- Emergency Preparedness: Oversee the training and support residential care staff for emergency and crises response, as well as incident management.
- Home Management System: Oversee the overall utilisation of the system to support the operational needs of the Home.
Any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Deputy/Head of Home.
Requirements:
- Degree in relevant field from a recognised institution
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including supervisory and staff development roles
- Able to work flexible hours
- Knowledge and experience in working with children and young persons with trauma history and /or offending behaviour preferred.
- Proficient in English and a second language.
