Functions and responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating, arranging and timely follow up OVID Inspections, CMID and other Client inspections as directed.
- Updating of OCIMF OVID database, CMID data base and company’s internal tracking system as directed
- Ensure OVPQ’s for the vessel assigned are kept updated.
- Attend vessels to conduct Marine Inspections and pre-OVID inspections or vetting assistance as directed. Ensure follow up of all deficiencies noted during vessel attendance is recorded and filed in the common drive
- Acts as liaison with assigned vessels and authorities for flag & port state matters.
- Responsible for ensuring assigned vessels are maintained up to date with all applicable publications, charts, and industry codes and guidelines.
- Responsible for conducting internal audits and inspections for assigned vessels.
- Responsible for arranging external audits for assigned vessels as directed
- Responsible for developing Corrective and Preventive actions and Root Cause Analysis from internal and external audits for assigned vessels and the follow up for closure.
- Responsible for ensuring vessels carry out proper weekly / monthly reporting for all HSSEQ matters as per company procedures.
- Responsible for reviewing and assisting in Risk Assessments and Management of Change requests for assigned vessels.
- Responsible for ensuring lessons learned and preventive actions from other vessels are disseminated and actioned for assigned vessels.
- Responsible for carrying out on board training for crews for company systems and procedures.
- Assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of accidents.
- A member of company emergency response team.
- Liaise with principals regarding safe vessel operations.
Education, Qualification & Experience
- Class 1 COC
- Previous experience as Master for a minimum of 8 months on various types of vessels in worldwide operations
- A proven track record as Superintendent for a minimum of 1 year in a shore based Shipping Company will have an advantage.
- Candidate who are deemed technically competent and without shore experience will be considered
