The Quantity Surveyor cum Procurement will be responsible for managing all aspects of quantity surveying and procurement for construction projects. This role involves cost estimation, budgeting, procurement of materials and services, contract administration, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of construction processes, and the ability to negotiate and manage contracts effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overhead costs.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets and constraints.
- Conduct cost analysis and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
2. Procurement Management:
- Identify and source suppliers and subcontractors for required materials and services.
- Solicit and evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and award tenders.
- Monitor and manage procurement activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to facilitate smooth procurement processes.
3. Contract Administration:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and resolve any contractual disputes.
- Monitor and report on contract performance and compliance.
4. Cost Control and Reporting:
- Track project costs and provide regular reports on financial performance and progress.
- Implement cost control measures to manage and mitigate financial risks.
- Prepare and present cost reports to stakeholders and senior management.
5. Project Management Support:
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure project objectives are met.
- Assist in project planning and scheduling to align procurement and cost management with project timelines.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and verify quantities.
6. Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement and quantity surveying activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of procurement processes, contracts, and cost records.
Qualifications:
- Experience in quantity surveying and procurement within the construction industry will be of advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and procurement systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
