It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/ in response to escalation requests/by chance. Some content viewed may violate our community guidelines, which include but are not limited to bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; murder.
What will i be doing?
- Draft, analyse and update policies for Nepal, Sri Lanka and other South Asia markets, leveraging local insights which are in line with our global approach to Trust and Safety.
- Formulate policy enforcement strategies for high-harm areas such as Hate, Violent Behaviors and Dangerous Actors, Mental Health, Integrity and Authenticity and Human Exploitation, specific to Nepal and other South Asia markets.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of policy guidance and training documents for high-harm policy areas in Nepal, Sri Lanka and other South Asia markets, for moderators and internal Trust and Safety teams.
- Act as the policy point of contact for Nepal, Sri Lanka and other South Asia in coordination with local and global stakeholders, and respond to content related emergencies.
- Manage cross-team relationships, in particular with senior regional stakeholders, collaborate with Product, Operations, Legal, Public Policy and Public Relations teams to build consensus on and improve content policies.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners and external experts to stay up-to-date on emerging social media trends in Nepal, Sri Lanka and other South Asia markets, to predict and prevent violations of TikTok's Community Guidelines.

What should i bring with me?
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in policy development, policy enforcement, or public policy, specifically in technology/social media/content.
- Business fluency in English and Nepali or Sinhala, proficiency in any other Nepalese or Sri Lankan regional language is a plus.
- Deep understanding of Nepal, Sri Lanka and broader South Asia, including local cultural norms, public discourse on content safety considerations.
- An in depth understanding of the impact of technology, media, cultural trends relating to content safety. Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to communicate complex ideas to multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated systematic thought process regarding policy in an applied setting, including the ability to exercise good judgment and presence of mind in high-pressure, ambiguous situations.
- Optimistic, thoughtful, and a self-starter who can own the ideation, prioritisation and execution of critical policy projects.
