Job Description
Clinical Care
- Comply with approved standards of nursing practices
- Provide nursing services requiring specialised nursed skills
- Work closely with the resident’s doctor and multi-disciplinary team to provide care to the residents; update on changes in the residents’ conditions and needs
- Develop care plan for each resident under her/his care and ensure care delivery and nursing interventions are as outlined in the care plan
- Evaluate the resident’s response to care interventions and revise care plan as necessary
- Collaborate with allied health professionals to initiate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures
- Conduct and supervise assessments of all new admissions
- Prepare residents’ medical records and ensure all documentations are up to date
- Prepare and administer medications to residents, complying with safe medication practices
- Supervise staff to ensure safe and quality resident care, and in compliance to standards
- Is responsible for the safe keeping of control drugs
- Deal with emergency and incident that arises and ensure prompt action to mitigate situation. Escalate promptly to supervisor, where necessary
- Assist NM/ NC in the supervision, evaluation and disciplining of staff in her/ his team within scope of responsibility
- Promote evidence-based practices on nursing care delivery
- Assist in the plan and coordination of resident’s discharge back to the community
Quality
- Coordinate teamwork in the day-to-day operation of the ward to deliver quality service to residents and families
- Work with team to maintain a safe and clean ward environment
- Work with NM/ NC to conduct quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care
- Ensure team members are familiar with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and all emergency protocols
- Assist NM/ NC in quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care, and implement action plan to close gaps identified or for improvements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Assist NM/ NC to maintain systematic inventory control of assets and drugs to achieve optimal utilisation and safe storage
Training and Development
- Participate in training and development of staff
- Assist in regular and on-going assessment of nursing staff competencies to ensure achievement of targets set and/or expected competency levels
- Ensure newly joined enrolled nurse, nursing aide, health care assistant and health attendant are oriented and inducted to provide safe care to residents
- Assist the NM/ NC in identifying, planning and making decisions to meet training and developmental needs of nursing and ancillary staff
Administration
- Utilise performance management and counselling skills effectively to motivate staff to perform at their optimal level and ensure care delivered is in compliance to standards of practice
- Ensure the safe storage of all confidential files, records, documents; and that residents confidentiality is maintained at all times
- Ensure that effective and cooperative working relationships are maintained within the Nursing Department and between internal and external customer groups
- Maintain an inventory list of ward equipment and ensure regular preventive maintenance is carried out as needed
- Plan roster and involve in manpower deployment when needed
- Deputise NM/ NC in her absence
Job Requirements
- 3 years or more relevant nursing experience
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
- Minimum Diploma in Nursing or in related field
- 5 days work week, rotating off days
- Only require to work morning or afternoon shift
