Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, assessing value for money, and ensuring that projects are completed within the approved budget. The Quantity Surveyor works closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to provide accurate cost forecasts and financial reports throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant information.
  • Analyze project requirements and develop cost plans to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and provide cost advice to assist in project planning and design development.
  • Prepare and review tender documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and contract terms.
  • Evaluate and analyze contractor bids, and provide recommendations for contractor selection.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts, including variations and amendments, to ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Monitor and manage project costs, including tracking expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit interim payment applications, progress claims, and final accounts for contractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide financial reports to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and control project expenditures to ensure they align with the approved budget and cost estimates.
  • Identify and report any cost overruns or financial risks, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform cost assessments for changes or variations to the project scope, and provide impact analysis and recommendations.
  • Conduct site measurements and valuations of work completed to verify progress and determine payment amounts.
  • Assess and value variations and changes to the project scope, and prepare necessary documentation and reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely measurement of quantities for billing and cost analysis purposes.
  • Identify potential financial risks and issues related to the project, and develop strategies to mitigate or manage these risks.
  • Assist in resolving disputes and claims related to project costs or contractual matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial and contractual documents related to the project.
  • Document and report on any financial discrepancies, disputes, or claims.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Provide cost advice and support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, and construction phases.

Job Requirement

  • Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying/Building/Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in building construction.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Proactive and well-organized.
