Steel Structure Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Analysis: Develop and design steel structures, including beams, columns, trusses, and frames, using structural engineering principles and software.
    Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the stability and strength of steel structures.
  2. Technical Specifications: Prepare detailed technical specifications and design documents for steel structures.
    Select appropriate materials and steel grades for specific applications.
  3. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., AISC, Eurocodes).
    Review and incorporate industry standards and best practices in design and construction.
  4. Project Management: Oversee the fabrication and erection of steel structures, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
    Collaborate with construction teams to resolve design and construction issues.
  5. Quality Control: Conduct inspections and quality control checks on steel components and structures.
    Ensure proper documentation and reporting of inspections and tests.
  6. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate steel structures into the overall project design.
    Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
  7. Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Assist in cost estimation and budgeting for steel structure components and related activities.
    Monitor project budgets and ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  8. Safety and Risk Management: Identify potential safety hazards related to steel structures and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
    Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards during construction.
  9. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, reports, and project records.
    Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Several years of experience in designing and managing steel structures in the construction industry.
  • Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD Pro) and design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of steel structure design principles, analysis, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in using structural engineering software and tools.
  • Understanding of relevant codes and standards for steel structures.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
