Job Summary


The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for managing and supervising all electrical activities and personnel involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.


The Position


Electrical Superintendent: This role ensures compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations, and coordinates with shipping departments to achieve project goals. The Electrical Superintendent is key in maintaining high standards of workmanship, project schedules, and cost management.


Some common duties of an Electrical Superintendent may include:


Electrical Superintendent Job Description:

  • Monitor the operational performances and the ship’s electrical system.
  • To provide support to the Technical Superintendents on the ship’s electrical matters.
  • To provide support to the ship’s Master and Chief Engineer on the ship’s electrical matters.
  • To attend and carry out trouble-shoot on reported ship’s electrical equipment and circuits malfunction(s), to detect and effect required maintenance, repairs, and replacement requirements.
  • Attend to any electrical matters in preparing for ship departure from the shipyard, conducting after-repairs performance tests on electrical equipment, and installation or replacement of any part of the electrical system on board the ship.
  • Review and enhance performance on vessels.
  • Assist in any ad-hoc duties, projects, and activities as and when required.

Electrical Superintendent Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Several years of experience in electrical work, with at least a few years in a bunkering industry with boarding experience.
  • Relevant electrical licenses and certifications (e.g., Master Electrician) may be required or preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, extensive knowledge of electrical systems and codes, ability to read and interpret blueprints, and proficiency in project management.

Electrical Superintendents typically work on sites. The role may involve exposure to various environmental conditions and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).


Overall, an Electrical Superintendent should be able to multitask, work independently, and have excellent communication and organizational skills. This role plays a crucial role in the safe and smooth functioning of the shipping department.
