Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the trading activities and operations of bulk agricultural products, including Southeast Asian timber, nuts, seafood, cosmetics, fruits, and durians, expanding the group’s international import and export business.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers and customers, ensuring successful contract negotiations and execution in agricultural product trading.
- Monitor market trends, supply chains, and trading risks, providing timely updates and insights to management on market conditions and trade performance.
- Regularly report on transactions, financial results, and profitability, overseeing the day-to-day activities related to the trade of agricultural products.
- Develop and implement policies, business plans, and budgets for agricultural product trading to achieve business goals in Singapore and internationally.
- Collaborate with farmers, suppliers, processors, shippers, and financial institutions to ensure access to accurate market information and facilitate seamless business operations.
- Keep up with global agricultural market developments and respond proactively to international economic and political changes that may impact the trading business.
- Analyze market opportunities and leverage the group’s platform and financial strength to pursue strategic partnerships, investment opportunities, and collaborations with producers, processors, and consumers.
- Ensure the smooth operation of all support functions, including documentation, finance, and logistics coordination, providing recommendations to improve efficiency.
- Maintain risk management practices within the framework provided by management, ensuring stable and secure trading activities.
- Comply with credit risk management guidelines, ensuring no credit exposure without prior approval from management.
Requirements:
- A recognized degree in agriculture, business, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in trading bulk agricultural products, ideally including timber, nuts, seafood, cosmetics, fruits, and durians.
- Proven success in managing trade activities with a track record of achieving business growth and profitability.
- Strong understanding of global supply chains for agricultural products and economic factors affecting international trade flows.
- Familiarity with production processes, quality standards, logistics, and international trade regulations for agricultural products.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, suppliers, customers, and partners across different regions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability and flexibility, with the ability to respond proactively to changes in the market.
- Passionate about the agricultural industry with a high level of self-motivation and entrepreneurial spirit.
