Role Overview
The Assistant Operations Manager will manage all day-to-day operations in the production and operations department to ensure efficiency and performance in accordance with the corporate objectives, strategy and plans. He/She will lead, guide, evaluate and develop Operational Excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Define and set the operation's performance objectives and targets of farm and service operations. Define and monitor operational targets such as revenues, profit and loss, operational efficiency, yield, wastage and service standards.
- Oversee, monitor, record and evaluate the operation's performance. Operations include areas such farm production, nursery operations, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, packing, consumables, inventory, supply chain, deliveries, storage, logistics, maintenance operations.
- Define the operation's strategy for being able to deliver and achieve products and services targets
- Direct the preparation of operating budgets and proposals for capital expenditure and investments in infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems, or other assets and resources
- Lead, guide, evaluate, and develop a team of production and operations managers with operational responsibilities to ensure that the organisation achieves it business objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws.
- Ensure continual development of Operational Excellence of the production and operations team (eg., FMEA, risk analysis, philosophy, people, process, methods and tools). Look for and adoption methods to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure adequate and consistent collection, storage and analysis of high quality production and operational data to improve operations.
- Oversee, develop strategies and ensure quality control of vegetables and services so that they are of the highest standards.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Science/ Business/ Agriculture/ Management or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience in managing farm operations
- In-depth knowledge of operational management processes, methods and tools
- Familiar with and able to use databases and systems to optimise operational processes
- Familiar with safety aspects and requirements of operations
- Strong analytical skills in general and very good understanding of business profitability
- Very good knowledge of teamwork theory and how to establish and develop teams and individuals
- Good, confident communicator. Able to communicate with workers of various skill levels.
