There is a newly created role open in their Guangdong (China) facility.
This is a permanent position and a single contributor role for a start.
The objective is to build up the internal capacbilities first.
The Lead of the Advanced Manufacturing Team (AMT) will be responsible for spearheading complex, high-precision manufacturing projects involving tooling, molding, and secondary processes.
In addition, the AMT Lead will drive the automation of laborintensive processes, ensuring that manufacturing capabilities stay at the forefront of efficiency and innovation.
You will work with a dedicated Automation Engineer and
collaborate with experts seconded from the Tooling, Molding, and Quality departments to execute complex manufacturing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Leadership: • Lead and manage high-precision and complex manufacturing projects involving tooling, molding, and potentially secondary processes (e.g., assembly, machining). • Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including tooling, molding, automation, and quality, to solve technical challenges and optimize processes.
2. Automation Initiatives: • Identify and drive opportunities for automating existing labor-intensive projects. • Lead the integration of automation solutions to improve efficiency, reduce labor costs, and enhance product consistency. • Partner with the Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation strategies.
3. Team Collaboration & Leadership: • Oversee the full-time Automation Engineer within the AMT team and manage additional team members seconded from the Tooling, Molding, and Quality departments. • Coordinate efforts across departments to maximize resources and ensure that all team members are aligned with project goals. • Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
4. Technical Expertise: • Provide hands-on technical expertise in tooling, molding, and automation processes. • Act as the technical lead for project scoping, design reviews, and process optimizations. • Evaluate new technologies and methodologies for potential application in advanced manufacturing projects.
5. Process Optimization: • Continuously review and improve manufacturing processes to enhance precision, quality, and efficiency. • Identify areas for cost savings and productivity improvements without compromising quality standards. • Ensure adherence to best practices in manufacturing, quality control, and automation integration.
6. Stakeholder Management: • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and outcomes. • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
7. Resource Management: • Effectively manage team resources, including the allocation of manpower from other departments. • Work with procurement and vendors to secure necessary materials, tooling, and automation equipment.
Qualifications:
a) Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
b) Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing, with a focus on tooling, molding, and automation.
c) Proven track record of leading complex, high-precision manufacturing projects.
Skillsets:
i. Experience in automation solutions and process optimization in a manufacturing environment.
ii. Strong understanding of tooling, molding, and secondary manufacturing processes.
iii. Experience with automation technologies, including robotics and PLC programming. iv. Knowledge of quality control systems and standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma).
v. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. vi. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and their application in manufacturing environments.
vii. Leadership & Communication: a. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire cross-functional teams. b. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. c. Effective communication and collaboration abilities across departments and with external stakeholders.
