The Design Manager is primarily responsible to lead the coordination within the technical team (Structural, Architectural and M&E).
Besides identifying and resolving design, specifications, construction methodology, sequencing and maintenance issues, balancing contractual obligations, statutory requirements, site progress and product workmanship while ensuring that timely progress of works on site with timely issuance of shop drawings, the Architect will also interface with the Consultants, Client and/or Authorities to ensure the timely resolution of such issues.
A summary of the responsibilities of this position are, and not limited to, as follows:
- Leads the coordination of the technical departments within the office.
- Drives and Monitors the production of schematic design, design development and construction documents i.e. shop drawings, material approval, mock-ups etc.
- Collaborate with Architect and consultants to amicably resolve design and technical issues.
- Aligned with Woh Hup Building Information Modeling / (BIM) / Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) implementation roadmap.
- Drive to improve the skillsets of the technical departments through trainings and knowledge sharing.
- Adherence to safety practices in the workplace.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Registerable with the Singapore Board of Architects
- Comfortable working within a fast-changing environment, ability to multi-task and cope with ambiguity
- Strong communication and interpersonal ability, coupled with influencing skills
- Independent and a self-starter, with strong personal drive to initiate and implement
Technical Competencies
- Proficient in the understanding of the requirements of relevant authorities (ie BCA, SCDF, LTA)
- Proficient in the understanding of various Forms of Contracts (i.e. Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), Public Sector Standard Conditions of Contract (PSSCOC), Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (REDAS) etc)
- Proficient in technical knowledge of construction and material
