The Risk and Audit team assesses and mitigates potential risks while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulations. They conduct audits to evaluate operational efficiency, identify vulnerabilities, and safeguard the organization's financial and operational integrity. We are currently hiring for an Associate Director Risk and Audit to join our Finance and Administration department at our Asia Campus in Singapore.
About the Job
Reporting to the Dean of Finance and Administration, you will play a central role in overseeing and managing risk assessment, and audit activities within INSEAD. You will assist and guide the Dean of Finance & Administration, and collaborate with various stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate risks while ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations through regular audit missions.
Your Responsibilities
Risk Management – Assist, establish and maintain an effective Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process at INSEAD that allows identifying, managing and reporting risks consistently and accurately
· Conduct interview and workshops to facilitate risk discovery and contribute to the continued improvement of a risk culture
· Assemble and maintain INSEAD’s School Risk Register containing the universe of risk facing INSEAD and assign the management of departmental Risk Registers to respective Departments.
· Update INSEAD’s Risk Map, a depiction of major risks including probability and impact, urgency, action plan and risk owner
· Perform deep-dives on specific risks, including data collection, analysis and reporting independent conclusions to be circulated to senior management and AFRC
· Establish and maintain close relationships with Senior Managers and Department Heads to ensure their feedback and updates is included
· Partner with business units to identify and document operational processes and gaps, and to develop risk management strategies and controls to manage these
· Create materials for the Audit Finance and Risk Committee 3 times a year, as well as ExCo presentations
· Manage the reporting of cases (legal, HR, thefts etc.) at a School level
· Ensure proper documentation of risk policy, processes and reporting
Internal Audit – Assist in Execution of Internal Audit Plan
· Provide support to team member(s) and ensure sustained quality standards over time (peer reviews of other audit team’s report when necessary)
· Assist in the development of the INSEAD 3-yearaudit plan based on a risk-based approach.
· Scheduling and planning of audits, including assisting in the selection of external support
· Act as point of contact for external auditors and help ensure audit quality
· Manage delivery of audit assignments, including reviewing assessments and audit reports.
· Perform audit work, including plan preparation, field work, interviews and issuing reports containing findings and recommendations
· Coordinate with internal stakeholders to agree on follow up of action plans for auditsOversee external compliance inspections conducted by authorities (Ursaaf, Adek etc.) and provide support to internal teams for completion.
Other responsibilities: Additionally, you will assume the role of “Case Manager” in the Anti-Harassment Policy process and lead any investigation as required.
Requirements:
Education Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Risk Management, Finance) is a plus.
Functional/Technical Requirements:
- Risk Management Expertise: In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, frameworks, and methodologies, with experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks.
- Audit Practices: Strong understanding of audit processes, including internal controls, compliance auditing, and operational audit techniques.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO, Basel III) and their application to organizational processes.
- Data Analysis: Ability to analyze complex data sets and audit findings to draw meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Financial Acumen: Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting principles, ensuring alignment with risk and audit outcomes.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient with audit and risk management software tools (e.g., ACL, SAP, Oracle GRC) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
