Position Overview:
The General Manager of Data Center Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and strategic management of the data center facilities in Singapore. This role ensures the data centers operate efficiently, securely, and reliably, meeting the high standards required for mission-critical IT environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:Lead and manage the data center operations team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring operational excellence.
- Operational Oversight:Oversee the daily operations of the data centers, ensuring they are running smoothly and efficiently.
Monitor data center performance metrics and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
Implement and maintain best practices for data center operations, including ITIL processes.
- Facility Management:Ensure the physical infrastructure of the data centers is well-maintained and operates at peak efficiency.
Coordinate and manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Oversee facility expansion projects and upgrades.
- Risk Management and Compliance:Ensure compliance with all local and international regulations and standards.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential operational risks.
Maintain and update disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Budget and Financial Management:Develop and manage the annual budget for data center operations.
Monitor and control operational expenses, ensuring cost-effective management of resources.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and reliability.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement:Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding data center operations.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing client needs and concerns promptly.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, vendors, and partners.
- Technology and Innovation:Stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in data center technologies.
Implement innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance data center performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in data center operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale data center facilities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and security systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices (e.g., ITIL, Uptime Institute).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
