Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to
- Overseeing the Tanglin Club’s Adult and Junior libraries daily operations, including rostering
- Cataloguing all incoming resources to the library on LMS using MARC 21 and by RDA standards, where applicable
- Acquiring new resources as part of collection development
- Working with the library executives to handle events helmed by sections under the library (Book club and Movie club)
- Reviewing and finalizing the agenda and reports, and conducting monthly meetings with stakeholders
- Spearheading collection maintenance initiatives such as stocktaking, weeding and condemnation, and archiving.
- Training team on library-specific skills as and where necessary and proposing uptake of relevant courses to improve overall performance.
- Gathering feedback from patrons and using that data to improve library performance and usage.
- Introducing monthly themes for the junior library for each calendar year, planning activities for both libraries
- Ensuring all enquiries over the counter, by email, or phone are promptly tended to.
- Managing any requests made by patrons which include but are not limited to:Purchasing specific titles (monographs and DVDs)
Subscribing to magazines or newspapers
Accepting donations
Dispute resolution amongst members
- Any other ad-hoc tasks that require attention, such as assisting with IMDA submissions, interviewing library candidates etc.
Requirements
- A degree or equivalent in Library Science, with at least 3 years of experience
- Service-oriented and comfortable with public speaking and presentations
- Ability to work on scheduled shifts which include weekends and public holidays
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
- Good organizational, planning and time management skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- High level of digital and information literacy
