Lifting Engineer

Rotary Mechanical And Construction Company (private) Limited

Responsibilities

· Daily Update of Project / Operation Progress to immediate superior.

· To have and maintain good daily attendance and punctuality.

· To update team member at least 2 working days in advance before going for leave , in order to minimize downtime.

· Ensure to know project scope of works and meet the clients needs as per project standard and requirements.

· Analyse site condition and project requirement according to the project safe work practices and procedures.

· Prepare Standard/Project Requirement Safe Work Procedure for Lifting Work activity on Standard and Critical Lift to be carried out safely.

· Provide necessary engineering and technical support on lifting operations.

· Prepare lifting plans, engineering studies, method statements according to the requirements of the lifting operations.

· Coordinate and liaise with customers on their lifting requirements.

· Conduct site surveys and assessment.

· Assist to Project Execution Plan in accordance to client’s requirements and specification

· Coordinate with other disciplines such as Civil, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Tankage & Scaffolders to resolve site issues.

· Coordinate with Subcontractor as per schedule Weekly and Monthly progress report.

· To review the Project Specification and Contractors Procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of documents.

· To review and coordinate with the Engineering Department respresentative on Lifting and Erection of Project Equipment (Plant Equipment/Piping/Structure)

· Manage HSE and Quality matters at site and are being maintained as per project requirement.

· Ensures the Contractors are submitting the relevant documents as per project requirement.

· Coordinate and work well with fellow inspectors from other disciplines to achieve overall objectives.

· Set a good Example to all, to be punctual for work, inspections and meetings.

· To conduct meeting professionally for all site matters so as not jeopardize the reputation while representing the company.

· Coordinate with other Disciplines to prepare Lifting Plan and Slide Presentation on Critical Lift.

· Plan the Materials and Equipment requirement and coordinate with Project Procurement Engineer.

· Attend the project safety site walks and actively involve in safety improvements .

· Check and monitor the Field Change and update to Project Engineer for additional claims

· Check the project required mandatory courses for (the crew) to arrange for training in line with training matrix.

· Check and prepared the MTO and manhour for additional works, update to project engineer for VO (variation order ) claim.

· To be proactive in creating a safe working environment for everyone and ensuring that HSE in-house rules are observed at all times.

· To consider HSE aspects when planning and carrying out tasks to eliminate and reduce HSE hazards, aspects and risks.

· To summarised Critical Lift works and conducting review and improvement. (Each Critical Lift).

· Meet and achieve Customer Satisfaction always. In Self and Team Recognition

· Complete the task activity within assigned man hours and time manner.

· Ensure proper inventory record and proper storage of Lifting Gears and Appliances.

· To be proactive in creating a safe working environment for everyone and ensuring that HSE in-house rules are observed at all times.

· To consider HSE aspects when planning and carrying out tasks to eliminate and reduce HSE hazards, aspects and risks.


Planning Lifting Operations

Design and plan the lifting process, including selecting the appropriate lifting equipment (cranes, hoists, slings, etc.), calculating load weights, and ensuring that the lifting gear is suitable for the task.

Risk Assessment

Conducting detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate them.

Safety Compliance

Ensuring that all lifting operations comply with safety regulations, standards, and best practices. This includes preparing lifting plans, obtaining necessary permits, and ensuring that the lifting team is trained and competent.

Supervision

Overseeing the actual lifting operations to ensure that they are carried out according to the plan and in a safe manner. This includes coordinating with crane operators, riggers, and other team members.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspecting lifting equipment before use to ensure it is in good condition and arranging for regular maintenance to prevent equipment failure.

Documentation

Keeping detailed records of all lifting operations, including load calculations, equipment inspections, risk assessments, and any incidents or near-misses.


Requirements

· Preferable bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

· Must have worked as Mechanical / Lifting Engineer for at least 6 years in engineering construction works and/or other relevant industry experience.

· Be able to understand and follow OH&S procedures. Able to establish safe working practices.

· Preferably computer literate in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

· Good oral and written communication skills in English

· Positive attitude with good interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving skills backed by solid technical knowledge

· Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

· Able to complete tasks with little or no supervision.

· Motivated Team player
