Job Description
Project: Unraveling biological and imaging ocular biomarkers for high and pathologic myopia
- Set up and optimize guinea pig breeding colony with proper frequency and intensity of lighting and housing structures to result in rapidly induce staphyloma formation
- Perform survival guinea pig surgeries
- Perform longitudinal in vivo measurements on preclinical models, which would include ocular injections, autorefraction, keratology, pupil responses, ocular ultrasound, optical coherence tomography
- Perform retinal histology and immunohistochemical assays
- Analyze imaging data from both preclinical and clinical studies (e.g. using MatLab or Python)
- Manage these research projects in a team-based, cross functional research environment, which include supervising students, technical and other support staff.
- Publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the result of research and scholarship in other reputable outlets.
- Support in grant writing
- Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the department.
- Draft research reports and support in grant writing for Principal Investigators.
- Undertake such specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Principal Investigators/Directors.
- Attend meetings and participate in other committees and working groups within NUS (where necessary).
Qualifications
- Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- Previous experience in OCT, software development in OCT and OCT signal analysis would be an advantage
- Possess good programming and image processing skills (e.g. LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python)
- Able to work independently, as well as in a team-based, cross-functional research team
