Purpose of the position:
- Providing technical support on board vessel for installation, service, commissioning, troubleshooting of ZF control systems for the thrusters and ZF throttle controls for the commercial and pleasure/fast craft segments.
- Installation, calibration of monitoring sets including sensors, gauges on ZF marine transmissions.
Major responsibilities include:
- Providing primary technical support on board vessel for installation, service and repair work of control system of Krimpen and Arco products.
- Assist and support mechanical works for all ZF portfolio products as and when required within his knowledge and understanding. (secondary function)
- Need to work on PLC, electric drive system, stepper drive and other related controls ZF system.
- Check wiring installations, supervise shipyard and ship crew on ongoing installations and repairs. Perform inspections, test completed installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, workmanship standards and contract specifications.
- Attend meetings at shipyard/vessel, with the owners, ship-crew, consultants, suppliers, technical superintendents, yard-managers, on work that is pending and required to be carried out and in compliance to yard- safety officers requirements.
- Support the Service Manager/coordinator with technical help-desk assistance.
- Assist to train junior/new engineers on the system to help grow the team.
- Monitor and meet the job completion target, in accordance to the ZF makers recommendation and quality.
- Provide clear, precise and detailed acknowledged service reports and timesheets upon each project completion.
- Manage Personal cost, and ensure most efficient schedule on job.
- Constantly strive to improve technical product knowledge through self learning and O-J-T development.
- Develop technical solutions, manage sub-contractors by ensuring technical and safety requirements are followed on the job.
- Prepared to be deployed on short notice local (shipyard, anchorage, workshop etc) or overseas from time to time as per job requirement and demand.
- Team player, and effective communication at all levels both internally and externally.
- Remain aware about ZF compliance rules and policies and maintaining full transparency towards ZF Management and Customers.
- Work within a regional matrix in support of the overall growth of the Marine business.
- Travel throughout the region and to product factories as and when needed.
Major requirement include:
- Min Nitec/Diploma holders in Mechanical/Electrical (Mechatronic) Engineering discipline.
- Good health.
- Willing to travel to site (shipyard, anchorage, OPL) and overseas when required.
- Relevant related job experience would be an advantage.
- Remuneration would commensurate with qualifications & experience.
- Independent, resourceful and proactive in problem solving.
- Computer literate and well versed in Microsoft office.
- Have a positive attitude, able to work under pressure.
- A great team player and an effective communicator.
- Language: English (spoken, write and read), Spoken Mother tongue/ 2nd language/ Local Dialect (will be a bonus).
