This position is for a full time Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Immunity and Immune Pathology in the Emerging Infectious Diseases Signature Research Programme.
The candidate is expected to work on a project examining immune responses to viral pathogens and allergic diseases by performing a variety of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate. The main duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: -
- Independently carry out the design and execution of experimental research required by the research component of the project.
- Independently analyse complex data sets.
- Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research, which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding.
- Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities.
- Contribute to occasional educational / instructional activities and project management.
- Assist in writing and monitoring animal protocols and IRB applications.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate / medical students and research assistants.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Job Requirements
- PhD in Biology, Immunology, or other related fields.
- Prior experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques, animal model work, and/or human immunology.
- Demonstrated capability of research independence.
- Have in-depth knowledge, skills and expertise with potential to achieve research excellence.
- Possess strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills.
- A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce
