Responsibilities:
To advise and facilitate department's management of its governance, risk management and compliance as set out by the Company.
- Subject matter expert for all rules and guidelines that apply to the division, including but not limited to Financial Advisers Act, Insurance Act and all internal company rules particularly where they relate to operational and financial risks faced by the Company and division.
- Ensure that the division’s processes and governance arrangements, particularly are aligned with applicable rules, both external and internal.
- Ensure that follow-up actions to audits and inspections are appropriate and completed on a timely basis.
- Identify areas of improvements across the division to enhance its governance, risk and compliance arrangements.
- Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
- Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
- Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
Requirements:
- Degree holder
- At least 10 years’ experience in governance and risk management, preferably in the life insurance distribution.
- Problem solving, interpersonal skills, impact, business expertise, business acumen and speed are essential qualities.
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
- Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
