Job Description
The Department of Physiology at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine is seeking applications for a Research Fellow position. Our laboratory focuses on elucidating cell-intrinsic mechanisms and extracellular factors that influence muscle function and mass during the aging process.
Research Focus:
Our current research investigates the differential aging processes in skeletal and cardiac muscles, with a particular emphasis on metabolic flexibility. The successful candidate will lead a project exploring the role of muscle lipid metabolism in maintaining the health of skeletal and/or cardiac muscle tissues.
Position Details:
- Initial 1-year contract with possibility of extension
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement studies investigating metabolism changes in muscle aging
- Lead research projects and contribute to manuscript preparation
- Collaborate with team members and external partners
Qualifications and Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent degree in medicine, molecular biology, or related fields
- At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience working with rodent models of muscle dystrophy or cardiovascular diseases
- Proficiency in mouse dissection and immunofluorescence staining techniques
- Experience with cell culture, preferably with primary satellite cells/myoblasts, is highly desirable
