Job Purpose
BBC StoryWorks, BBC Studio’s global commercial creative and content division, seeks a Director of Content Strategy and Production for APAC. This role leads the development and execution of innovative, high-quality content solutions across BBC Studios media portfolio activations for a diverse range of advertising clients.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and empathetic leader with a strong background in managing creative teams, client relationships, and production processes. They will ensure the APAC content strategy team delivers award-winning, best-in-class content that meets BBC’s high standards.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead a team of creatives, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Manage stakeholders across the BBC to deliver creative solutions that meet business objectives.
Client Management
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs and ensure content strategies align with their goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
Creative Strategy
- Drive the creation of impactful, thought-provoking content across multiple platforms and formats.
- Set and maintain high creative standards, ensuring all work is conceptually strong and brand-aligned.
- Oversee the development and execution of content that stands out in a competitive landscape.
Production Oversight
- Manage the production process from concept through post-production, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with the Project Management and compliance team to ensure that the work meets BBC’s stringent editorial and commercial guidelines
- Work within budget constraints, maintaining profitability for BBC ad sales productions in line with P and L targets.
Communication and Business Culture
- Facilitate clear, timely communication within the team and with external stakeholders regarding BBC Storyworks team and Work.
- Facilitate cross pollination of learnings, ideas and best practice with the global Storyworks teams
- Contribute to broader company and department initiatives, aligning team efforts with overall business goals.
- Uphold and promote BBC values, including safety and compliance standards.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in content strategy, production, or related roles, with a strong emphasis on people management, client relations, and production oversight.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring creative teams, with a track record of fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Extensive experience in client management, including the ability to build strong relationships, understand client needs, and deliver tailored content solutions that meet business objectives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
- Deep understanding of production processes across various media formats, including video, digital, and written content, with a strong focus on quality and compliance.
