Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate ship repair projects from inception to conclusion, making sure that resources are allocated effectively and tasks are finished on schedule.
- Establish comprehensive repair plans that include job scopes, timetables, budgets, and resource requirements by working with different teams.
- Keep track of all the work completed for the project and notify the commercial department of any additions or modifications.
- Establish constructive working relationships with clients to raise their level of satisfaction and promote return business.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients during ship repair projects, responding to any questions or concerns and giving regular updates on the status of the work.
- Distribute resources wisely to fulfill project requirements and maximize output.
- Work together with the teams responsible for procurement and logistics to guarantee that the supplies and tools required for repair jobs are available on schedule.
- Offer direction, instruction, and mentorship to guarantee a knowledgeable and driven staff
- Create and oversee budgets for repair projects, keeping tabs on spending and looking for ways to cut costs.
- Hold production meetings for ongoing repair projects.
- In charge of all yard facilities and equipment that will be utilized for repair projects in terms of planned maintenance.
- Any additional responsibilities that the general manager may occasionally delegate.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in naval architecture or ship science, or an equivalent, or a Class 1 (COC) Marine Engineer;
- Management experience managing ship repairs, ideally in a shipyard or maritime setting
- Excellent project management abilities and a track record of completing ship repair projects successfully, on schedule, and within budget
- Solid knowledge of reporting and budgeting
- Thorough knowledge of ship repair best practices, quality standards, and safety regulations
- Skillful with Microsoft Office
- Skilled in using project management software and applications relevant to shipyards
- Prior experience managing and supervising others
