R&D Software Engineer (SRE)
We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer to join a Quantum Engineering Solutions (QES) team, focused on delivering cutting-edge solutions in quantum technologies such as quantum computing, communications, and sensing. As a Site Reliability Engineer in this R&D team, you will help bring innovative software solutions to market. This hybrid role merges Quality Assurance and Site Reliability Engineering expertise to ensure the performance, stability, and quality of our products. The ideal candidate will have a background in software engineering and experience in testing, monitoring, and incident management, as well as the ability to drive process improvements and maintain reliable systems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implement advanced monitoring tools, respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and apply corrective actions to improve system reliability.
- Develop and optimize automation frameworks for testing and infrastructure, and contribute to codebase improvements.
- Design and execute detailed test plans using both manual and automated testing methods to ensure software quality and performance.
- Collaborate with Software, Firmware, and Hardware teams to ensure smooth deployments, high-quality software, and quick resolution of issues.
Job Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related fields, with 4-7 years of experience and proficiency in C#/C++ or Python programming and debugging.
- Demonstrated experience in developing production software using C#, C++, or Python.
- Solid understanding of software performance fundamentals.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools.
- Experience with test automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with monitoring solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
- Proficient in Python scripting for automation tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving system issues involving hardware instrumentation and software.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across distributed teams.
- Experience with AWG, Digitizer, and Downconverter modules (PXI hardware experience is a plus).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive learner with a willingness to acquire new skills.
