Trade & Working Capital, within Transaction Banking, is grounded in the Bank’s strategic priorities through delivering customer value, innovation, driving productivity, optimizing cost efficiencies, facilitating #simplefasterbetter, and living the valued behaviours.

To get things done faster to support this growth, a core team of product managers serving as Product Initiatives Leads for Trade will, on a rolling basis, drive selected high-impact and high-visibility group or regional initiative(s) under Trade’s core priorities and strategies that will help move the needle in reaching our goals.

This role reports into the Head of Trade Initiatives & Business Enablement and requires commercial-minded individuals with strong trade domain expertise in documentary/ open account trade finance, a ‘can-do’ attitude and ability to work independently. Ability to collaborate with Global/ Regional product heads and other stakeholders such as RFOs and operations teams will be key to delivering on this role. Key objectives will entail establishing strategy, business cases and execution plans as well as actual execution of agreed initiatives. Product Initiative leads will be responsible to the Group/ Regional product managers for the end-to-end execution and commercialization of initiative(s) they lead.

We are looking for individuals who can operate in new (often ambiguous) areas, can provide critical thinking, problem solving and drive execution of the product initiatives they lead.


Key Responsibilities

Business
• Work closely with global and/ or regional product heads as product initiatives leads to establish a strategy, business case, project plan and execute the agreed scope of initiatives
• Apply a “client-first” lens while considering speed to value, time-to-market and cost-benefit trade offs
• Drive innovation (e.g., Digital Assets), ideation and thought leadership and execute on innovation initiatives through to commercialization in alignment with business strategy
• Define detailed scope, success KPIs, system /process/people requirements & work with the lead product manager and frontline teams to deliver commercial outcomes.
• Lead authoring of relevant artefacts such as requirements/scope, impacted PPGs, end-to-end product & process flows, interface requirements, risk impacts, and clearly articulate these flows and processes to the relevant business and technology teams
• Engage and work with relevant 1st line and 2nd line stakeholders to define, seek approvals and deliver, product/process changes for the initiatives they lead.
• Work with Technology & POs to track progress for relevant system changes linked to initiatives they lead.

People & Talent
• Champion and act as a role model of the Group’s values and culture. Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Sets appropriate tone and expectations for their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
• Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, ensuring everyone in the Bank are drivers and owners of client outcomes.
• Set effective metrics and standards, transparently communicating them to team members, providing feedback and rewarding employees accordingly. Set the appropriate tone and expectations for the wider team.
• Ensure team structure/capacity is reviewed to enable delivery of client outcomes.
• Create a motivational and challenging environment for team members which is conducive to creativity and performance with customer centricity in mind.
• Provide feedback on team members to their people leaders, as part of performance reviews

Risk Management
• Under Trade Process Universe mappings end-to-end and impact of these initiative led changes to the Trade PU.
• Work with risk teams to seek approvals for any risk related items such as product/TB risk, legal, OR/GRAM risk assessments etc., for said changed driven by the product initiatives they lead.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • University Degree
  • Licenses and Certifications/ accreditations: CDCS, CTFP, GTC, or related Trade related training a strong plus
  • 12 years of experience in Trade related product management/operations/sales domains
  • Strong Project Management experience, with PMP, ACP or related project management certifications a plus
  • Prior management consultant or in-house business/ strategy consulting and execution experience a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office - Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel a must.
  • Strong presentation skills, extensive experience writing successful project proposals, experience planning and execution related projects, and demonstrated project management skills and experience
  • Strong influencing and communication skills – oral, written and presentation. Proven success in communicating technical information in a simple way.
  • A team player: multi-culturally aware with a proven ability to work in a global service delivery model, with onshore and offshore resources.
  • A track record of success in product/portfolio/ programme and project management roles in the trade domain
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; ability to steer through ambiguity and determine proper course or methodology without direction or supervision.
  • Solid organizational skills, including experience engaging strong stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, process mapping, draft scoping statements, develop project, resource and costing plans, establish and run governance models, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, relevant and accurate documentation based on captured requirements and information gathered from stakeholders/
  • Proven ability to prioritise issues within a large, rapidly changing environment and manage a wide variety/ high volume of tasks while maintaining quality delivery.
  • A results-driven professional. Takes ownership to deliver, with a high level of flexibility and a preparedness to ‘roll up his/ her sleeves’ to get the job done. Proven success in holding individuals accountable for progress against agreed deliverables.
  • A proven ability to work independently, solve problems and make balanced judgments / decisions
  • Demonstrates ability to work with limited direction and multi-task without loss of quality
  • Confident and courageous to raise/ escalate issues in a pro-active, professional, and timely manner
  • CDCS, CTFP, GTC, PMP, or related Trade related training a strong plus
