Job Title: Air Cargo Officer


Key Responsibilities:


1. Cargo Handling:

Supervise the loading and unloading of cargo onto and off aircraft.

Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and securing of cargo.

Coordinate with ground staff and airline personnel to manage cargo movement efficiently.

2. Cargo Documentation:

Prepare and verify cargo manifests, airway bills, and other required documentation.

Ensure compliance with customs regulations and airline policies.

Maintain accurate records of shipments and delivery timelines.

3. Customer Service:

Liaise with customers, freight forwarders, and logistics companies to arrange air cargo shipments.

Address customer inquiries regarding shipment status, handling, and pricing.

Resolve issues related to delays, damage, or misrouted cargo.

4. Compliance and Safety:

Ensure that all cargo complies with safety standards and airline security regulations.

Conduct inspections for dangerous goods and ensure appropriate handling.

Coordinate with relevant authorities (e.g., customs, immigration) for special cargo clearances.

5. Operational Efficiency:

Monitor cargo handling equipment to ensure optimal functioning.

Coordinate flight schedules and cargo space allocation to maximize capacity utilization.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in cargo processes and operations.

6. Inventory Management:

Track and manage cargo inventory, ensuring timely movement and delivery.

Handle lost or delayed shipments and coordinate with airlines for resolution.


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, or a related field (preferred).

Experience in cargo handling, logistics, or a similar role.

Strong knowledge of airline cargo regulations, customs, and freight documentation.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.


Skills:


Knowledge of air cargo operations and regulations (IATA, ICAO).

Familiarity with customs processes and documentation.

Proficiency in cargo handling systems and software.

Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.


Work Environment:


Mostly airport-based, working in cargo terminals or warehouses.

Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on flight schedules.
