A new position is now available for a Controls / Software Engineerin our Singapore office. The successful candidate will assist in the support of specific Asia Pacific clients and work closely with our headquarter team in Germany as well as KOCH Asia Pacific team. Position Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, enhance and maintain software required for the precise operation of KOCH’s proprietary machinery, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Identify customer needs and define software requirements, accordingly, applying advanced technical knowledge of KOCH’s proprietary machinery and associated software.
  • Employ good methodologies to enhance and improve equipment life cycle in accordance with corporate and/or client functional needs, requirements, quality control parameters and standard operating procedures.
  • Confer with management and other engineering staffs to discuss project specifications, priorities, scheduling and procedures.
  • Direct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation (design/technical specifications), creating and applying extensive tests to validate accuracy of the production process.
  • Direct testing (unit testing, integration testing, acceptance testing), validation procedures, and actively participate in quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure all validation processes confirm suitability for use in a medical or pharmaceutical environment as required and comply with required regulations.
  • Perform complete software overhauls of used proprietary machines, per customer’s specifications and ensure continued adherence to current regulations.
  • Perform software-retrofits of our machine modules as needed.
  • Coordinate installation of software on our proprietary machinery at client location and consult with customers on technical issues.
  • Consult with customer concerning installation, maintenance and use of proprietary software system, including providing support to customers.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications/requirements.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines regarding management, quality control and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical oversight relative to software in purchase orders, involving his review of purchase contracts in collaboration with the Engineering Team to provide technical input.
  • Communicates information to Germany for support by Service department, programmers or Applications Engineering as required
  • Communicates activities to KOCH Germany Service business unit

Candidate Requirements:

  • BS in IT/Computer Science/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in machine control software development for packaging or industrial processing equipment
  • Experience with Beckhoff TwinCat or equivalent IPC programming protocols and structure
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages such as Visual Basic.NET
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Rockwell ladder logic programming will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Servo Drive Motion Controller programming and synchronization
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Must possess strong communication skills particularly regarding detailed technical descriptions of systems and issues
  • Must possess skills regarding Account Management to proactively communicate with the customer and advance the business by doing so
  • Must possess entrepreneurial skills to enlarge the business by proactively approach the customer with ideas and opportunities to improve customers equipment availability, performance and quality.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
