Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily technical operations of the ship's engine and machinery systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Implement and supervise planned maintenance schedules for all engine room machinery, ensuring timely servicing and repairs.
- Monitor and manage the budget for engine maintenance and repairs, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Provide on-call technical support to vessel engineers, offering solutions to operational issues, breakdowns, and emergencies.
- Ensure that all engine room operations adhere to international and local maritime regulations, including environmental standards and safety protocols.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, with relevant certifications (such as Class I/II Engineer's License).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Chief Engineer or a similar role, preferably with seagoing experience on various vessel types.
- Familiarity with international maritime laws, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other regulations related to engine operations and maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective measures.
- Excellent leadership abilities to coordinate with shipboard teams and external stakeholders, along with clear communication for troubleshooting and reporting.
