We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientist to join our research team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support and expertise in LC-MS and MALDI-MS Imaging-based OMICs technologies to facilitate various pipeline projects in basic, translational, and clinical sciences. These projects will encompass a wide range of mass spectrometry (MS)-related drug discovery applications, encompassing proteomics, lipidomics, and small molecule quantitation. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing general lab and site-related duties.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- With supervision, be able to provide support, learn, and perform MS-related activities, which encompass assay development, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of MS instruments.
- Support scientists in the preparation of in vitro, in vivo, and clinical tissue samples for spatial data acquisition through MALDI-MS Imaging workflows, and aid in LC-MS based proteomics / metabolomics applications.
- With guidance from data scientists, employ statistical, bioinformatics and data visualization tools to analyze and interpret LC-MS and MALDI-MS Imaging OMICs datasets.
- Contribute to and implement the research strategy of the overall Quantitative Biosciences department, aligning them with division’s drug discovery approaches and organizational objectives.
- Retain up-to-date knowledge of the key therapeutic area biology, analytical techniques, and cutting-edge technologies. Conduct literature searches and provide reviews as required to support priority projects, demonstrating good communication skills.
- Work collaboratively on company research projects with matrix teams within the department and other cross functional teams at division to enable the scientific advancement of projects under scientific and administrative direction.
- Optimize technology to support scientific and business processes, seek opportunities, and provide recommendations to enhance technology and support systems. Adopt a continuous improvement approach to all lab-based activities to improve safety, quality, speed, efficiency, and costs.
- Assist the group in inventory management, documentation for environment, health and safety, biological materials, risk assessments, management of change documentation, international shipping, and capital equipment purchases and maintenance.
- Ensure reliable documentation of experiments and results in electronic notebooks and other documents in compliance with company policies and project needs. Also, identify the need for and ensure the implementation of risk assessments and SOPs as appropriate.
- Proactively plan and execute own career development strategy with help of manager to advance technical and functional knowledge to design experiments/projects that contribute to overall direction of department/discipline.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- MSc or BSc in in Analytical Sciences/Chemistry/Bioinformatics or related discipline including Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnologywith at least 3 years of relevant research experience with good track record.
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS-based omics technologies
- Sample preparation techniques, preferably in the areas of proteomics or metabolomics.
- Expertise in tissue histology, and/or bioinformatics is desired.
- Programming experience with Python or R would be a plus.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills are a must.
