Job Summary:
The Childcare Worker is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants in the day care. This role involves attending to the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of infants, ensuring their well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Care and Supervision:
• Provide direct care and supervision to infants aged 2 months to 18 months.
• Attend to infants' daily needs, including feeding, diapering, and napping schedules.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of infants at all times.
2. Developmental Activities:
• Assist to plan and implement age-appropriate activities to promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
• Engage infants in play, sensory activities, and early learning experiences.
• Foster a positive and smulating environment for infants' growth and development.
3. Health and Hygiene:
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the infant care area.
• Follow proper sanitation procedures for toys, equipment, and surfaces.
• Monitor infants for signs of illness or distress and report to the supervisor.
4. Communication and Interaction:
• Collaborate with other childcare workers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
• Maintain accurate records of infants' activities and routines.
5. Safety and Emergency Procedures:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Ensure that the infant care area is free from hazards and is child-proofed.
6. Professional Development:
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and high standards of care.
7. Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist with the preparation and organization of materials and resources for daily activities.
• Support the overall operation of the day care by performing additional tasks as requested by the Day Care Manager/Director.
• Foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all infants and their families.
Requirements:
• Experience working with infants in a childcare setting is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with infants.
• Ability to lift and carry infants and young children.
• Physical stamina to engage in activities, bend, stoop, and sit on the floor.
• Capacity to respond quickly to infants' needs and emergencies.
