The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract at the Humanities & Social Studies Education Department.
Project Title: Examining the Epistemological Differences Between Assessment & Evaluation
Project Introduction: In the field of education, assessment and evaluation are defining strategies for improving school practices with the overall goal of enhancing student outcomes. Although assessment and evaluation are two instrumental domains, holding various epistemological differences, they are often conflated and used interchangeably among practitioners in the field. To address these limitations, the research aims to identify and describe the epistemological and ontological differences between educational assessment and evaluation. The research also hopes to develop operational definitions of assessment and evaluation that are transferable from research to the classroom. This project will be conducted as part of the Strategic Research Fund (SRF), a scheme under the 5th Tranche ERFP, which was introduced in NIE to engage in research projects that meet MOE and NIE’s strategic objectives
