What the role is
The Carbon Mitigation Division (CMD) administers the Energy Conservation Act and the Carbon Pricing Act to mitigate greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions from the industrial and household sectors.
What you will be working on
In this role, you will be administering the mandatory energy management requirements stipulated under the Energy Conservation Act. This includes reviewing the energy efficiency opportunities assessment reports submitted by companies building new and operating existing energy-intensive industrial facilities, researching on latest energy/carbon efficient technologies and trends, and providing guidance to companies on additional energy efficiency opportunities that they could implement. You will also conduct in-depth evaluation of the technical and financial merits of grant applications for energy efficiency retrofits, endorse methodologies for measuring and verifying the targeted energy savings, and validate the realised energy savings.
What we are looking for
- Degree in Chemical, Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the following areas:
- Research on advances in industrial energy efficiency technology at the local and regional level
- Develop Measurement and Verification (M&V) methodologies for various industrial systems and conduct energy performance assessment (e.g. based on ISO 50002)
- Develop and implement energy saving or energy efficiency improvement projects of key industrial processes and systems in one or more of the energy-intensive sub-sectors such as: chemicals, biomedical, water management and utilities; and generic energy intensive industrial systems such as heating, cooling and compressed air systems
- Certification in Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM), Energy Efficiency Opportunities Assessor, Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer would be advantageous
- Mature, independent and resourceful
- Good team player and strong interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Strong analytical abilities
- Able to meet tight deadlines and adapt quickly to changes
- Organised and able to multi-task
- Highly self-motivated
