Social Service Executive

Bishan Home For The Intellectually Disabled

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the Home’s community outreach and volunteer management program especially in the leading, planning, co-ordination, engagement, coaching, and expansion of these programs. You are also required to assist the Senior Social Worker in case management.

Volunteer Management
■Develop, promote and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization.
■Recruit, manage and deploy applicants for volunteer work.
■Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers.
■Organise and manage events which includes briefing of volunteers, logistics, coordination with corporations, school groups and individuals.
■Maintain BHID Facebook and Instagram, uploading of event photos, updates, articles on social media platform.

Social work
■ To assist the Senior Social Worker in case management.
■ Conduct home visits, provide assistance and advice for caregivers regarding various form of assistance available from government sector and VWOs.
■ Assess & prepare social reports for clients if needed.
■ Assist in administrative duties for Social Work Department e.g. Means Testing, MFEC, DDR etc.
■ Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Senior Social Worker.

Technical Competencies:

■ Minimum Diploma (in any discipline)
■ Possess good communication skills, both written and oral
■ Effectively bilingual
■ At least 1 - 2 years of similar working experience
■ IT savvy and competent in social media platforms

■ Possesses a high sense of commitment to work with attention to detail.
■ Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
■ Outgoing, energetic and self-motivated independent worker.
