Job Objectives/Job Summary:
As a WSH Officer, he/ she is responsible in preventing and eliminating injury and illness to employees and assisting Company to comply fully with relevant and latest Workplace, Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations. He/she has to inspect workplaces, and minimize or eliminate hazards, such as incorrect working methods, and materials.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- To inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards;
- To protect employees, customers and the environment;
- To recommend changes to protect workers, and educate employees on how to prevent health problems through the use of safety training programs;
- To identify potentially hazardous materials;
- To investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future;
- To ensure that monthly inspection of Fire Extinguishers, Exit Lights and Emergency Lighting, are carried out;
- To formulate and administer comprehensive Risk Management and review safe work procedure;
- To prepare and update Safety and Health Management System;
- To implement training programs and safety promotion plan to ensure safety awareness that the operations are safe and in compliance with statutory regulations and international standards/practices;
- To assist in the evaluation and recommendation of related workplace health issues;
- Able to lead and manage safety inspections and audits; and provide advisory roles for internal audit team;
- Able to lead and manage emergency situation (e.g. Fire, Explosion, Power Failure and Gas Leakage);
- To ensure compliance to Fire Safety Act and Regulations;
- Responsible for emergency response, incident investigation and safety training program;
- To conduct periodic Environmental, Health and Safety audit on site
- To prepare and review all Risk Assessment;
- To prepare Health, Safety and Environmental reports and statutory reports in the required formats;
- Ad-hoc duties.
Job Specifications/Requirements:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, engineering or equivalent.
- A qualified safety practitioner who is MOM registered WSH Officer and/or qualified Fire Safety Manager
- NEA registered Environmental Control Officer (ECO)
- Certificates in QEHS Internal Auditing (ISO 9001, ISO 140001, OHSAS 18001)
- Minimum 5 years local working experience
- Familiar with regulatory requirements related to workplace safety and health, and all other aspects of safety;
- Ability to exercise initiative, manage pressure, multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment is a must
