We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Workshop General Manager for one of our global ship services clients. The Workshop GM will oversee daily operations, ensuring timely job completion, cost efficiency, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The role involves managing workshop activities, optimizing resources, and driving business growth while maintaining profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers to handle day-to-day operations, including development, upgrades, and recruitment.
- Generate business through direct client interactions and increase repeat business.
- Ensure optimal use of machinery, manpower, and materials to meet customer requirements.
- Coordinate activities to meet deadlines, quality, and budgetary standards.
- Oversee equipment testing, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Collaborate with other departments (logistics, quality, HSE, etc.) to ensure seamless operations.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and class rules.
- Manage all documentation related to workshop activities (damage reports, quality tests, etc.).
Requirements:
- At least 10 years of experience in engine repair or shipyard environments, with 5 years in a managerial/ supervisory role.
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, and mechanical work in diesel engine repair.
- Experience with marine engine repair and maintenance, reconditioning of components, fuel injection systems, and turbocharger overhauls.
- Familiarity with class rules and manufacturing long-lead parts is a plus.
