TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare high-quality sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese dishes in line with restaurant standards.
- Create visually appealing and innovative sushi rolls, sashimi platters for menu curation.
- Ensure freshness and quality of ingredients through proper handling, storage, and preparation.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the Team to deliver a consistent, exceptional dining experience. Ordering of goods from suppliers and liaising with suppliers to procure seasonal items.
- Interact with guests when appropriate, answering questions and providing recommendations.
- Assist in training junior staff members, when necessary.
- Maintaining composure, speed and efficiency when working in a fast paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a high-end restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of sushi types, techniques, knife skills, and fish preparation.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple orders simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Creativity in developing new menu items or specials.
