NIE invites applications for the Senior/Assistant Head, IN-Learning position at the Centre for Innovation in Learning. The selected candidate will be pivotal in driving technology-enabled pedagogical innovationsin alignment with NIE’s strategic thrusts.
Responsibilities
The Senior/Assistant Head, IN-Learning, will report directly to the Head, IN-Learning. This management role is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that align with NIE2025's focus on innovation, digital transformation, and impactful teaching and learning practices. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead strategic planning and decision-making to support NIE’s goals of integrating emerging technologies in teaching and learning. Provide leadership to ensure the centre's objectives are aligned with institutional goals of excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement.
- Faculty Development Leadership: Drive the design, implementation, and evaluation of faculty development programs that enhance the integration of innovative teaching practices and digital tools. Lead initiatives to build faculty capacity in leveraging emerging technologies and data-driven teaching strategies as part of NIE’s broader goal of fostering future-ready educators.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with academic groups, IT departments, and external stakeholders to implement NIE-wide digital transformation strategies, especially those related to innovative learning environments, as envisioned by NIE2025.
- Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a team of experienced managers and specialists. Oversee professional development efforts to build leadership capacity and nurture talent in the centre in alignment with future NIE strategic priorities.
- Pedagogical Innovations: Champion innovative e-pedagogies and drive the adoption of emerging technologies to enable personalised, data-driven learning and practices. Lead efforts to enhance future-ready learning environments that leverage advanced learning analytics, AI, and other innovative tools.
- Change Management: Partner with key institutional leaders to lead transition strategies for NIE initiatives, ensuring smooth implementation and adoption across NIE. Lead effective change management processes that support digital transformation and innovation.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure that the Centre for Innovation in Learning delivers high-quality service and support to the NIE community, balancing operational effectiveness with the strategic goals of NIE2025.
- Data-Driven Leadership: Utilise learning analytics and data insights to inform strategy, monitor progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives. Ensure evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement in all areas.
- Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of ICT resources and manage budgets, aligning them with the centre’s strategic objectives and NIE2025’s long-term vision.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education (Learning Sciences & Technology), or related fields. A Doctoral degree would be advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership roles in instructional design or educational technology. Experience in leading teams and projects in technology-enabled learning environments and strong skills in mentoring and developing leadership potential.
- Demonstrated ability to lead innovation in technology-enabled teaching and learning and align these initiatives with institutional strategies like NIE2025 and proven track record in strategic planning, project management, and change leadership.
- Expertise in emerging learning technologies, such as AI, adaptive learning systems, and learning analytics, and the ability to implement them to achieve NIE’s vision and mission.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, external stakeholders, and industry partners. Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills to engage and inspire teams.
- Proficiency in learning analytics, instructional design methodologies, and tools that align with IN-Learning’s focus on evidence-based, data-driven teaching and learning.
- A forward-looking leader committed to lifelong learning, both for themselves and their teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
