One Food Laboratory Assistant

This advertisement is for the recruiting position of One Food Laboratory Assistant.

If successfully selected, you will be seconded to MOE Secondary school located in Lengkok Bahru.

Contract Period: From 01 January 2025 to 31 December 2025

Option to Extend: for a further period of 01 Jan 2026 to 31 Dec 2026.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

  • Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of ½ hr lunch break
  • Fridays: 7:30am to 1:30pm, inclusive of ½ hr lunch break
  • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.

The Personnel shall be competent to perform the following:

  • Be in the Teacher’s Preparation Room and food laboratories during working hours
  • Ordering of food ingredients before lesson
  • Preparation of ingredients before lessons, ensuring food is prepared and handled safely
  • Maintaining cleanliness of utensils, equipment and food laboratories areas.
  • Handling inventory and stock taking of resources e.g. books, utensils and equipment.
  • Assisting the teacher during practical session e.g. ensuring that students observe safety rules, guiding students in preparation skills
  • Administration – Checking and filing of invoices and keeping track of the cost of the ingredients
  • Any other duties relating to the food laboratories assigned by NFS teachers, HOD/Craft and Technology and the School leaders.

The Personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Minimum qualification of Primary 6
  • Able to converse and write in English
  • Basic mathematical skills e.g. able to calculate the amount of ingredients based on a given recipe for seven classes
  • Good knowledge on food ingredients and food preparation. Preferably to have attained the Basic Food Hygiene Course
  • Must have at least 1 year experience working on food preparation in a commercial/school or training kitchen
  • Previous working experience in a school-kitchen will be an added advantage.
