Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide regional daily legal support including contract draft, contract review, legal research, provide legal opinion on business models and operations, in charge of dispute resolution, etc.
- Review existing and new products to manage compliance with local laws, regulations, and best practices, particularly local telecom regulations and data privacy requirements.
- Develop and execute a compliance strategy, including all necessary policies and procedures, to ensure the Company conducts its operations in compliance with all regional applicable rules, regulations, laws, and best practices.
- Lead response, investigation, analysis and applicable corrective action pertaining to any local compliance matter.
- Perform compliance audits to evaluate compliance with applicable laws and regulations, report to company leadership, and advise on and implement any necessary corrective action.
- Oversee the annual development of a risk assessment and annual compliance work plan that identifies the organization's unique characteristics and areas of regulatory risk, with a focus on the Company's products, and set forth a risk mitigation plan that will be implemented by the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- LLM from a presentable law school and 3-5 years of compliance experience
- Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese is a must
- Experience with the export controls, global regulatory compliance (TMT especially), and global data privacy compliance.
- Strong knowledge of control frameworks and the ability to design and evaluate the effectiveness of controls embedded within business processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management and the executive team in a clear and persuasive manner
- Experience in the telecom industry or cloud service giant is strongly preferred.
