Roles & Responsibilities
- To assist the Project Manager in implementing the safety management system to ensure staff and workers work in a safe and healthy environment.
- To assist the Project Manager in implementing the permit to work system and to stop & report to the project manager any incompatible works relating to the same.
- To act as the secretary of the Project WSH Committee and chair the meeting such that the company staff and subcontractors are aware of the site activities and the required actions.
- To assist the Project Manager in complying with the WSH Acts and Regulation.
- To conduct periodic safety inspection to verify level of safety compliance so that the safety standards are constantly improved.
- To ensure site compliance with statutory safety requirements and in-house safety rules and regulations and to report any deviations to the Project Manager for management consideration.
- To recommend to the Project Manager any necessary corrective measures to be taken on safety non-compliance and deviations in order to enhance the site safety.
- To update site management on any new or changes to current statutory safety requirements and also take the necessary actions.
- To investigate any accident/ dangerous occurrence/ incident and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- To liaise with officers from MOM/NEA /PUB on matters pertaining to safety, mosquito breeding, ECM etc and take the necessary action for their comments.
- To conduct safety training and organise safety promotional activities.
- To ensure safety documentation is kept current and ready for MOM, NEA or ISO Audit.
- Carry out the works assigned for compliance with requirements of ISO 9000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001
- Be involved in the evaluation of risk assessment and plan, manage and review Management Programmes.
- Be involved in all the sub-con safety and health matters pertaining to the site.
- Prepare and submit the site environment control Programme and ensure that the staff and workers are aware and understand the intention.
- Inspect the site to ensure that all facilities and equipment relevant to the maintenance of the environment health are in working condition.
- Assist the authority to investigate outbreaks of infectious, vector-borne disease.
- Organise campaigns, training course to develop and sustain the interest of workers in maintaining good environment health standards.
- To assist the Project Manager in the management of the workers e.g their courses, reporting sick, home leave, accommodation.
- To assist in achieving the safety standards required by the site’s developer.
- Be involved in safety aspects for planning of activities that are in view of the public or in area that the public uses.
- Must hold a valid registration with MOM as a WSH Officer and with NEA as an ECO.
