Job Summary
Strategy
To support primarily the Singapore WRB business in the development and execution of the business strategies, delivering the corporate plan, specific strategic imperatives, and providing business and financial advice and insights by working with the WRB head in Singapore, WRB CFO, Singapore CFO and Group WRB Finance team. In addition, oversee WRB business in ASEAN and to participate in WRB Finance Global agendas and initiatives.
Business
• Financial and Strategic Indicators: To enhance shareholder value through guiding and supporting the delivery of the Singapore WRB financials and key performance indicators against internal and external benchmarks as well as strategic roadmap, delivering OP, and Return targets
• Business Efficiency: To have oversight and drive the delivery of the Business Efficiency in areas including cost plan delivery, supporting business in driving efficiency in frontline and digital channels, continuous focus in driving improvement in CIR% in particular.
• Projects, Initiatives, and Investments: To partner with the business teams and provide timely and objective insights and feedback on business and investment decisions, to ensure that investment resources are prioritised and capability built in line with the key enablers required by the region
Processes
• Apply Group Accounting and financial control policies, standards, procedures, and internal control practices and recommended appropriate financial policies / procedures in support of strategic business goals
• Evolve from product centric reporting to more client-focused financial reporting and analysis. Navigate and overcome challenges in the shortcomings of data availability, and with ultimate goal to drive improvement in shareholders’ value.
• Improve efficiency through automation and improve reporting and forecast practices by adapting advanced financial reporting tools and financial forecasting practice
• Improve wider collaboration across Singapore, ASEAN countries and global teams, apart from regular discussion of business and financial performance, drive best practices against countries, streamline and lead to consistent methodologies in financial analysis, and more focus on external business / financial performance against peer group and new emerging fintech industries than internal SCB benchmark / comparison.
People & Talent
• To lead a team of finance professionals through recruiting, retention, and development
• To re-energise the teams with growth mindset and connecting their work to business outcome
• Lead through example and build upon the culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions and suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
• Employ, engage, and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
• Set and monitor job description and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
Risk Management
• Participate and contribute in discussion in terms of ALCO, Basel working group, deposit working group, and other financial risk forum to ensure business finance is jointly working with wider finance communities on key polices, capital, funding, and financial control matters
Key Responsibilities
Governance
• Represent Finance in participating in core business investment and pricing discussion, including Pricing forum, branch investment forum, technology investment forum
• Bringing Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
• Stay connected with markets’ changes in regulatory framework in PRA, Basel, SINGAPOREMA etc
Regulatory & Business Conduct

• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. • Lead the SINGAPORE RB, WM, and PvB Business Finance teams to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.]
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
- Qualified accountant or equivalent.
- 10 + years of relevant experience and Extensive knowledge of Retail Banking and Wealth Management products, in particular of the SINGAPORE market, gained in senior Finance roles in complex international organisations
- Strong business partner, team player with a strategic mindset and a track record of securing the confidence and respect of the peers and stakeholders.
- A high degree of integrity and ability to influence and challenge the views and actions of others in a constructive manner, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Commercial acumen, with a sense of materiality and decision-making capability
- Dynamic leader of teams who role models Bank’s values and purposefully develops long term talent within the function.
- Able to multi-task, operate effectively under ambiguities, uncertainties and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong networking and interpersonal skills, forming positive working relationship in the multicultural environment.
