We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a prestigious Japanese fine dining restaurant located in the heart of downtown, for the role of an experienced Yakitori Chef. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about traditional Japanese grilling techniques and delivering high-quality cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Master the art of yakitori grilling: Grill yakitori skewers to perfection using traditional Japanese methods, ensuring a consistent flavor profile and optimal texture.
- Skewer preparation and marination: Skillfully prepare and marinate a variety of meats and vegetables, ensuring every skewer meets high-quality standards.
- Maintain grill station: Keep the grill station organized, clean, and efficient, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Control grilling temperatures and timing: Monitor the grill carefully to ensure each dish is cooked perfectly, balancing temperature and time for ideal taste.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team: Work closely with other chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service.
- Menu input: Provide creative input and contribute to the development of new yakitori menu items when needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Yakitori Chef in a Japanese fine dining restaurant or yakitori bar.
- In-depth knowledge of traditional Japanese grilling techniques, including managing grill temperature and skewer preparation.
- Must be able to communicate in Mandarin as the Head Chef is from China and communication with the team is essential.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Prior experience in Japanese barbecue is highly preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Expertise in traditional Japanese yakitori preparation.
- Previous experience in a Japanese fine dining setting is a strong advantage.
- Culinary certifications in Japanese cuisine are a plus.
