Job Title: Applied Learning Programme (ALP) Teacher Aide

Job Objective:

The ALP Teacher Aide will support the Applied Learning Programme at Admiralty Secondary School. The primary responsibilities involve assisting in the preparation, delivery, and supervision of ALP lessons and school programmes focusing on STEM, coding, and design thinking.

Working Hours:

  • Mondays & Wednesdays: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (inclusive of ½ hour lunch break)
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (inclusive of ½ hour lunch break)
  • Fridays: 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Service not required on: Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support for ALP Lessons:Assist in setting up logistics for ALP lessons, ensuring students understand Design Thinking (DT) principles.
    Facilitate lessons involving technical hardware such as Microbit, M5Go, and Artificial Intelligence.
    Advise students on the technical feasibility of their projects and suggest improvements.
    Help conduct ALP lessons with teachers, particularly in technical aspects.
  2. ALP Talent Development:Provide guidance to talented students in ALP and coding programs during curriculum time and after school.
    Assist with ideation, design, and product development in the school’s makerspace.
  3. Hardware Support:Prepare facilities and equipment before ALP lessons and activities.
    Return equipment after use and ensure facilities remain operational.
    Provide technical assistance to teachers and students during lessons and activities.
    Collaborate with ICT Manager, Associate, and Desktop Engineers (DE) to maintain equipment functionality.
  4. School-Related Administrative Support:Update the school website and broadcast system.
    Learn new technologies such as IoT, AI, or other coding programs as per school requirements.
    Organize and manage ALP inventory in the makerspace in coordination with STEM instructors.
  5. Additional Responsibilities:Perform other ALP and school-related duties assigned by the school leaders or key personnel.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Language Proficiency:Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:Strong interpersonal skills, a good team player, and responsible when carrying out tasks.
  • Experience:Preferably 3+ years of experience working in a secondary school environment, engaging with students.
    Experienced in designing and delivering lessons to secondary school students.
  • ICT Skills:Intermediate proficiency in troubleshooting PCs and using MS Office and Google Suite applications.
  • STEM/Coding Skills:Familiarity with Microbit, M5Go, or other coding platforms.
    Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software like Sketchup, OnShape, TinkerCad, and 3D printing software such as Cura, Flashprint.
    Experience with operating 3D printers and basic soldering for electronic circuit construction.
  • Flexibility:Willingness to adjust working hours based on school needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking, STEM education, coding, and makerspace management.
  • Ability to support extracurricular programs focused on technical and creative development.
