Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead the planning, design, and execution of civil and structural projects.
Ensure projects meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Design and Engineering: Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs and drawings.
Ensure that all structural designs are safe, sustainable, and meet client requirements.
Review and approve design calculations, plans, and specifications.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of civil and structural engineers and technicians.
Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Quality Assurance:Implement quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of engineering practices.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites and engineering work.
Address any design or construction issues that arise during the project.
- Stakeholder Coordination:Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
Attend project meetings and provide technical input and recommendations.
Manage communication and reporting to stakeholders on project progress.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote a culture of safety within the team and on construction sites.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Budget and Cost Control:Manage project budgets and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Approve expenditures and monitor financial performance against budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Regulatory Compliance:Ensure all designs and constructions comply with local and international building codes and regulations.
Keep up to date with changes in legislation and industry standards.
Oversee the submission of necessary permits and documentation to authorities.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is often preferred.
- Professional Experience:Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in civil and structural engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a management or supervisory role.
Proven track record of managing large-scale civil and structural projects from inception to completion.
- Certifications:Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification.
Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., ASCE, ICE) is an advantage.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in civil and structural engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, SAP2000).
Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and codes.
Ability to conduct and review complex engineering calculations and designs.
- Leadership and Management Skills:Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent project management skills, including budgeting and scheduling.
