Job Summary:
Co-Curriculum – Sport Department is looking to appoint Learn to Swim External Instructors who will contribute to a world-class school swim programme that supports both the development and performance of Tanglin swimmers through a holistic approach. The Learn to Swim External Instructors will provide safe and effective delivery of lessons to students, developing swimming techniques and skills while increasing students’ knowledge and improving their safety in and around an aquatic environment. The role reports to the Head Swim Coach.
This is an ad-hoc external instructor role and will be paid based on hourly basis. Working hours will be arranged according to the school’s timetable and operational needs.
Requirements:
- AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
- Possess First Aid Certified
- Possess CPR/AED certification
- Experience of coaching in a school or youth setting is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities
· To plan and deliver lessons, aligned to the Merlion’s Learn to Swim Curriculum.
· Deliver high-quality progressive coaching sessions which support, challenge, and develop all swimmers.
· Ensure the highest quality of coaching is provided to all swimmers through continued professional development.
· Support the Learn to Swim Coordinator with regular feedback on individual progress.
· Maintain effective communication channels with all relevant staff, parents, and students.
· Assist and provide assessments for new and existing students.
· Other duties as directed by the Learn to Swim Coordinator and Head Coach.
· Ensure the safety of all participants, other coaches, and yourself within sessions, reporting any accidents and incidents in accordance with the school’s procedures and codes of practice.
· Operate according to the policies, procedures, and codes of practice relevant to the role.
· Understand and implement the school safeguarding and child protection policies, liaising with DSLs across the school when appropriate.
· Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
