Job Description:
We are seeking a talented and experienced COBOL Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong development skills in COBOL and have experience in re-platforming, interface setup, and CICD release control. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing COBOL-based applications, while ensuring seamless integration with other platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, test, and deploy COBOL programs, ensuring they meet project requirements.
· Re-platform legacy applications to modern environments while ensuring stability and performance.
· Set up interfaces for communication between different platforms and systems.
· Work collaboratively with the CICD team to ensure smooth release control processes.
· Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to COBOL applications.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse and understand business requirements.
· Perform code reviews, optimizations, and ensure high-quality code standards are maintained.
· Document technical solutions and provide ongoing support for the applications.
Mandatory Skills:
COBOL Development: Strong experience in COBOL programming.
CICS: Hands-on experience with Customer Information Control System.
Linux/Unix/AIX: Proficiency in working with Linux/Unix/AIX environments.
VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method): Expertise in working with VSAM files.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical thinking to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
English Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Good to Have Skills:
JCL (Job Control Language): Experience in JCL for managing batch jobs.
File Handling/Reports: Ability to manage files and generate reports.
Database/DB2/Oracle: Knowledge of database systems such as DB2 and Oracle.
CD (Continuous Deployment): Familiarity with continuous deployment processes.
SSH (Secure Shell): Working knowledge of SSH for secure remote access.
Tools (TWS/Connectivity, etc.): Experience with scheduling tools like TWS and other connectivity tools.
Preferred Experience:
· Strong development background with experience in re-platforming legacy systems.
· Experience with interface setup and integration between different systems.
· Familiarity with CICD tools and release management processes.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
· Proactive in identifying areas for improvement and optimization in existing processes.
Education and Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· Certifications in COBOL, CICD, or related technologies are a plus.
