Job Description

A Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the group of Dr Ahmet Avsar at Material Science and Engineering Department of National University of Singapore is available to experimentally study the properties of novel magnetic insulators in device applications.

The research involves advanced nanofabrication in state-of-the-art research facilities, and magneto-transport measurements utilizing low-temperature cryostats. It also includes data analysis, physical interpretation of the results and writing research articles. More specifically, the transport of incoherent magnons and spin torque based on these magnons will be investigated in magnetic 2D heterostructures composed of insulating and conducting layers. For more information about the projects and job description, please contact Dr Avsar ([email protected]).

Our National Research Foundation supported group has a ~ 100 m2 lab space with a full access to a clean room facility at the Graphene Research Centre (CA2DM) dedicated to 2D device physics and a cryofree low temperature high magnetic field measurement facility (magnetic fields up to 12T and base temperatures down to 250 mK). While the researcher will have the opportunity to start her/his experiments immediately, she/he is also expected to contribute into building our newly established laboratory.

Qualifications

A PhD in experimental physics or engineering is required. Enthusiasm for research, ability to think and work independently, willingness to support PhD and undergraduate students, excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential requirements.

Interested candidates only with a very strong background in 2D heterostructure fabrication & low-temperature magnetotransport measurements will be considered.
