Responsibilities:
The seamstress needs to have the knowledge and skill to mend, alter, cut and fabricate aircraft’s seat covers, curtain, etc from fabric or leather materials according to approved drawings, that include replacing grommet and adding padding materials to the seat covers. He/she should also be able to estimate the amount of time and materials required.
- Able to accurately measure the dimensions of the articles using tape to ensure proper fit and meet the drawing requirements.
- Ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order.
- Labelling by stitching the label to the articles.
- Using irons to erase the creases on the articles.
- Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques.
- Proven sewing experience.
- Ability to work under time constraints.
- The ability to safely use different types of sewing machines.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
